Live Music: WC Jameson

W. C. Jameson is one of Texas’ more distinctive performers because he has built parallel careers as a singer-songwriter, bestselling Western author, historian, and professional treasure hunter. Although he has long been associated with Austin and the Texas music scene, he is equally well known for his books about the American West and legendary lost treasures.

Musically, Jameson writes and performs original Americana, Western, folk, and country songs that draw heavily from Texas history, frontier life, ranching, and the colorful characters of the Southwest.

His songwriting is rooted in storytelling rather than commercial country, making him a favorite at folk festivals, songwriter showcases, libraries, historical events, and intimate listening rooms. Over his career he has released several albums, including Texas Tonight, Songs From the Long and Winding Road, Old Flannel Shirt, A Simple Life, and In a Large and Lonesome Land.

Away from the stage, Jameson has become one of America’s most prolific Western writers. He has authored more than 100 books and over 1,500 articles covering frontier history, outlaws, folklore, buried treasure, and Texas legends.

His popular Buried Treasures of America series established him as perhaps the best-known treasure-hunting author in the country, and his real-life expeditions have been featured on national television, including the Discovery Channel, the Travel Channel, Unsolved Mysteries, and NPR. He also served as a consultant for the film National Treasure.
